About a month ago I asked Logan what kind of birthday party he wanted. He chose a Monster Truck theme and has been talking about it non-stop since then. After he made his decision I started scouring the internet and Pinterest for party ideas that would be appropriate for a 3 year old birthday party. I did manage to find a few and the party turned out fabulous. But it took surprisingly more work then I would have imagined. There were a lot of ideas out there, but many of them were for older kids. So if any of you are looking for Monster Truck Party ideas for toddlers, look no further!
The party would not be complete without a Monster Truck shirt on the Birthday Boy.
The Cake:
I found this idea for a cake and loved it. Logan loved it as well. His reaction when we brought it out was priceless! It was super easy to make too. I will be the first to tell you that I am the opposite of creative and I found this cake easy to do. We used Chocolate Cool Whip frosting, Oreo cookie crumbles, threw them all together and added some cars and monster trucks to the top. Easy peasy.
The Games:I had seen ideas for Pin the License Plate on the Monster Truck and thought it was such an awesome idea! I got Brian to draw this truck on some poster board, and I found a picture of a Texas License plate and photoshopped the names of all the kids on their own license plates. Afterwards we taped them to the party favor boxes so they could take them home.
We also did Monster Truck Bowling, but I failed to get a picture of it. Basically we just lined up some plastic bowling pins and let the kids roll a big Monster Truck and knock them down. That game was a hit with all the kids. We've even played it a few times with Logan since his party.
We ordered this Grave Digger Pinata from Celebrate Express along with all of our party decorations. It was so cool! When we got it in the mail I honestly couldn't wait for his party. The Pinata was fun, but afterwards Brian commented on how it is probably the most dangerous party game with the candy, kids, and large sticks flying around. But I honestly couldn't resist this pinata.
The food was super fun to do, but looking for ideas was a little frustrating. We ended up mixing ideas from Pinterest along with some of our own. The Refueling Station was probably one of my favorite ideas. We printed off some labels that read "Unleaded Fuel 87" and "Premium Fuel 91" on a bottle of Root Beer and Sprite.
I had a hard time finding themed food ideas. There are TONS of truck themed dessert options all over Pinterest but I really didn't want the kids on a sugar overload. So we racked our brains and came up with "Lug Nuts and Bolts" Munchie Mix, "Boulder" Meatbals, "Mud Shot" Pudding cups, "Spare Parts" fruit cups, and "Dip Sticks" Veggie spears.
Logan had a blast at his party and everything turned out so well. But I can honestly say I am glad I won't have to do another birthday party for a year. Three year old birthday parties are exhausting!
