With Canada Day being July 1 and Independence Day on the 4th it's been a big week of celebrating for our multi-national family. But Happy Independence Day to all my American friends and family out there! I haven't actually been in the US for the last couple years to celebrate so I'm excited for some fun today. I've been asking people all week how they celebrate here in Houston and I've got a big day planned for our family. We're starting the day off nice and early with a 3 km family run at the church followed by a yummy breakfast. Every morning when I go out for a run Logan always asks to come with me so I'm going to see if he wants to do the run tomorrow. Brian isn't a runner so we'll leave Summer behind with him.
After we're heading over to Bellaire to check out the parade and have fun at a little festival they put on. Then we'll have some much needed nap/down time before dinner at a friends and fireworks at the Miller Outdoor Theatre. I'm really excited and really hoping the kids will be able to handle the early morning and late night. Wish us luck!
I've also been thinking all week about what I'm going to wear for today. I want something comfy, light and patriotic without being too over the top. I threw on a few outfits last night and took some pictures so I could decide.

I really love all 3 outfits. Who knew my closet could be so patriotic? But after careful thought, and me trying (and failing) to write some coherent and valid sentences about about each outfit I have decided on number 3 for these 3 reasons:
1. White pants and sitting on the grass and sidewalk to watch parades and fireworks is just not a good idea. I might as well get some dirt and smear it on my butt before I even leave the house.
2. Outift number 2 is more of a date night outfit with the heels and necklace and everything.
3. I just look comfortable in outfit number 3. It's got the red, white, and blue going but it's not overdone. It's definitely a winner for today.
