Diving into Refashioning

I have a lot of clothes. Like tons. But I feel like I am always hating everything, and can never find something to wear. I get sick of my clothes really easy. So I have been delving into the refashioning world a little bit lately. I am not very good at sewing, and I am not a perfectionist (at all!!) so a lot of the time they don't come out perfectly, or my husband ends up finishing a project for me. He is a hard core perfectionist, the perfect person to finish up the little details on a project.

I've found that ever since I've started refashioning I look at my unloved clothes a little differently and try to make them work. Not everything can be reworked, but a lot can. I have quite a few ideas in my head, and hopefully one day they can come to fruition.

This skirt is my latest refashion

It started it's life as a bridesmaid dress.
I have the prettiest sisters!

I wore this at my sister's wedding 6 years ago. It's been hanging in my closet ever since. I really love it as a skirt, and am really excited that I have given it new life. My sister had all her bridesmaid dresses custom made, so I was really nervous to just chop it up. But honestly, it was either this or let it sit in my closet for another 6 years. I'm sure if the original seamstress were to see the skirt she would cry and my hack job, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Just don't look too close at it!

Here's to refashioning and (hopefully!) perfecting my skill.
